guy's
140 had noise pulled cover off top of trans and toward the rear of the gear box there is the remenats of a plate that appears to come off the last lower gear toward rear of tractor.I pulled the cover aboce the pto off and pulled shaft out.I removed pin in top shaft of gear box.
Now I am stuck.I can not figure out how to get the top shaft and gears out of the trans so I can get to the bottom of the box to figure out what broke.
-It seams to me the top trans shaft should come right out the rear of the tranny housing and back through the hole where I removed the cover above the Pto housing.
-Am I mistaking?????Thanks for any advice
Justin

I"m not sure , but i"m pretty sure it has to come out the front. My super A came out the front. do you have a manual? is the tranny off the tractor or split at the front of the trnny?

Post on the Farmall/IH discussion board and you'll get more responses. I'm pretty sure you have to split the tractor at the front of the trany and pull that shaft out the front. Dave.
