This is my first attempt at trying to restore anything to its intended beauty...

The paint on the hood wore off long ago(prior owners), lots of surface rust, it isn"t rusted through. My wife calls it my brown tractor. I have all the paint off and 99% of the rust.

My question is I still see a few dark areas, not as bright as just the bare metal. Hood is smooth, so it isn"t full of pits. Do I need to sand down to eliminate all the darker areas?

This is a working tractor, not for show but I do want it to look good...

is it rust thats still there or maybe some origional primer?? hit it with some 240 or 320 grit sandpaper on a da sander and see if it cleans up. when you get it, put a good coat of primer over it. i dont know what kind of paint you are going to use, but what ever type see if the have a primer for your paint that with self etch.

where abouts are you in indiana i live over by muncie a guy down the roadfrom me could have that hood perfect in about 20 minutes he runs a sandblasting shop give me a call if interested (765)754-7137
