I am rebuilding my T035 gas engine & as I went to set the crankshaft gear & the cam gear I noticed there are no marks on the cam gear, is there any other way to set the crank & cam gears without the marks? thank you any suggestions are
very much appreciated

The only other way to check the timing of the camshaft on the continental Z134 type engine without using timing marks on the gears is :-
1.Adjust the number 1 cylinder intake valve clearance between the rocker and the valve stem to 0.020inches (cold engine).
2.Holding a 0.005inch feeler gauge between the valve stem and its' rocker, turn the engine over slowly by hand in its' normal direction of rotation (clockwise from the front) until a slight resistance is felt on the feeler gauge whilst trying to pull it out.
3.In this position the DC mark on the flywheel should be in line with the groove in the timing hole on the left hand side of the engine. If it isn't, correct the relationship between the crankshaft and camshaft until these line up.
4.Reset the previously adjusted valve to its correct valve gap of 0.015inches.
