walked onto a project with a massyFergeson tractor where the electrical was all messed up. the starter would not fire, nothing would happen..I have gotten the problem fixed up except for now the engine runs but the starter will not disengage..I think it is a wiring problem but I can't figure out where I have miss wired..

if you have a solenoid and there is power to the activator terminal the starter will remain engage. Disconnect all but the starter and starter cables, to temporarly activate the starter with a jumper to the small terminal, this will isolate the problem eliminating elecrical cross wiring. If this is the case a push button switch can be used. A starter stuck in engaged position indicates a faulty bendix drive. good luck

I had a similar problem with my Allis Chalmer's "B" tractor. I believe that it was the solenoid. I don't where it is on your machine but, if it is on the starter; it's probably going to mean that the whole starter will need to be replaced, sorry to tell you that but be forewarned. Mine was in the tool box and was easily removed with my "left handed adjustable metric wrench (cresent to all who don't know about these things). Luck.
