john deere b steering shaft

hey guys, my dad has a john deere b and im working on it. i want to get the hood off so i can work on it but i sont know how to take the steering shaft out. i have the grill tins off and all bolts out so im ready to go. any input will be much appriciated.

The steering shaft comes out forward. You have to remove the big nut on the steering wheel n pull it off, its on the tapered shaft with a half moon key. Then go up front to the end of the shaft where it passes through the steeering pedestal and remove the 2 front horizontal end bearing cap screws and the bearing end cap and loosen the packing nut over on the other side of the steering pedestal and then shaft unscrews out from the sector gear and it n the worm on the end all comes out forward..... .
