What kind of acid is used to clean engine heads and components??/ Is this available to Harry farmer???

Draino or oven cleaner is the same thing. For blackod and heads, Draino in water in a black garbage can in the summer for a week (after scraping the big gunk off), pull out, rinse and scrape, repeat until cleean.

For small stuff, spray oven cleaner, same way.

Wear Rubber Gloves and Eye protection and Don't breathe the fumes.

i think you are referng to caustic soda. they call it hot tanking, where the block was immersed in a tank with hot caustic soda,it would eat everythink clean in the block, including the cam bearings. real nasty stuff, if you need a block dipped, take it to an engine shop, will run you about $75.00 or so.

Depending on what your tring to do vinagar works well to clean parts/tools.
