Massey Ferguson Adapter Plate Problem

I have a Massey Ferguson 65 with a front pump and loader. The shaft that goes back to the adapter shaft is splined (10 splines). The adapter has a splined id and three hole bolt on in which the bushings (rubber and metal) go through and attach to the crank plate. My problem is that the only three holed adapter plates I can find are threaded and I need a splined i.d. (10) to fit onto the shaft with 3 holes.

My Massey Ferguson dealer told me if I knew the name of the loader that would help find something but I can find nothing on the loader as to the manufacturer but it has part numbers on each part, ie: bucket = 18150, Lft Frame = 18179, Rt Frame 18178, Front Cross Bar = 17890, Front Bumper = 18192 but I can't find any reference from these part numbers to a manufacturer.

If anyone could help me with locating an adapter plate or with a manufacturer of the loader it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

That sounds like the same size shaft that is on the kabota Finish mower gearbox might try matching it up .

The outside of the shaft is 1", the splined end is 15/16" with 10 splings which went in to the adapter plate. On the other end at 2 1/8" from the end of the shaft the diameter goes down to 3/4" and is keyed (pump end that goes into the coupler between the pump and shaft). The overall length of the shaft is 17 1/8".

Rob, My Tisco catalogs that are a few years old
have them but I went on line and I guess they have
eliminated some things. I can't envision the 10
spline shaft-is that oversize from the shaft on
the spline end or the same size as the rest of the
shaft. I could get you a couple Ford no's. Some
like Superior had enlarged splines. Hope I can

Rob, So many loaders-so few people to help. Most
equip dealers deal with a company named Tisco.
Tisco has adaptors,shafts,etc for most anything to
match up. They do not have to come from a specific
loader brand supplier. Ford,Dearborn,Superior,Dual
etc,etc. This dealer(or other)should be able to
pull out a catalog with descriptions and pictures.
Anyway, the part you need works on multi-brands.
Good luck-find a more helpful dealer. By the way
if you have picture to post or mail. If you have
a Ford dealer he would likely have this part.Chuck

Hey Chuck,

Thanks for the reply but..... ...Tisco does not have the adapter plate..... and neither do several other tractor part suppliers..... .and I've tried contacting 3 dealers so far. So I'm not sure exactly what to do. I'm thinking I'll have to buy one with the treaded center and have someone broach out the splines for me.

Unless someone has a better idea or recommendation. Thanks1

It'd probably be cheaper and easier to buy a threaded shaft or have a longer one made up to go with the new hub. Broaching splines on one part could get spendy, unless they happen to have that size splined broach on their shelf.

One question I have is, the one end is splined and slides into the drive hub. How does the other end attatch to the pump? Chain coupler? Love joy? Other?

well being kind of a novice at this i'm not exactly sure what type of connection it is at the pump....i believe it's a coupler which bolts onto the drive shaft at the pump....i haven't removed the pump and drive shaft as of yet due to the fact that i have to remove the front bumper to slide it forward which means jacking up the loader for clearance. this week if i'm still unable to locate an adapter plate (drive hub at the crank pulley) with 3 holes and a 10 spline (7/8") center hole that will be my plan of action.
i'll purchase a drive shaft with a threaded end and purchase an adapter plate with threads in the center hole. it's more work and expense but i need to use the loader soon to move dirt before snow flies..... and of course to move snow.
