I posted this question under the John Deere forum last week and was told to try here.
Cast iron wheel clamps rust up almost immediately after being blasted with glass beads. I believe the ones which are rusting had calcium chloride on them (the rear wheels leaked the calcium chloride onto the rims and clamps)
Someone suggested using an acid product...Right thing to do? any other suggestions? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Please refer back to the post above Ref use of Phosphoric acid. One trade name is Ospho. Available in hardware stores for about $ 17.oo a gallon. There are other trade names but I am not familiar w/them.

fill your tires with used canola oil from restaurants and chip joints. it is enviromently friendly if it leaks, doesn't rust and a good price (free)

What about pressure washing the stuff?

Most bare metal likes to rust after sand blasting.. .. I'me sure the salt residue don't help either.
