rear main seal leaking on my 350 farmall gas

is there any tricks to putting this seal in? for this will be my second time doing this in a year.ive had people tell me that someone makes a rubber seal instead of the felt. ive been told to soak it for acouple of days in oil.ive been told to put finger nail polish around the edges iam going to replace the seal retainer just incase it is warped. any help will be greatly appreciated.

MSB-when you are talking about the coathanger fix are you doing this without tearing the tractor down?

Remove the bottom half of the main bearing.Replace only the bottom felt.The coathanger wedges the old top felt against the crankshaft just enough so it is tight once again.Used to work in a Ford car dealership back in the 60s.That is where I learned the trick.

Used to take a couple pieces of coat hanger and grind one end to a long fine point Then drive the pieces in up next to the block .Figure it so the points will overlap when driven all the wqy in.Never had a felt seal that this didn't restore.
