I just acquired a to20 with ser. # to115906. This number seems to be too long according to the lists I have seen. Can anyone help with finding out when it was made and if I am looking at the wrong #. It is printed on the plate near the steering wheel. thanks

TO30: Has Continental Z129 engine (serial on engine prefix is Z129)i believe on the left side of the block.; this engine has external oil filter on side of block.
TO20: Has Continental Z120 engine (serial prefix is Z120); has oil filter inside pan.

That Serial # belongs to a 1949 TE-20. TO-20's have the serial stamped at the top of that plate and TE's had it at the bottom. The other way to tell is that the TE steering box and transmission cover are one piece and the TO is two piece. There is one othe rpossible explanation and that is if it is a 1953 TO-30. Then that serial # works too.

Craig - thanks for the reply. It may be a model 30, although the guy I bought it from said it was a "20". How can I tell whether it"s a TE20 or a TO30? thanks Jeff
