I like redoing old steel wheel implement,s and tractor,s, But I dont have a bead blaster,so what do i do as far as cleaning then up before painting,?I wanted to try Evaporust, but they say that the part has to be emersed in the liquid before it will work, So I thought about Naval Jelly to brush it on, and then wait to clean it off, I have this old steel wheeled IHC 3-16 bottom trip plow with left wheel bigger than right wheel, all original, I see blue spot,s on the top frame,s,and black on the yoke or hitch, but hardly any red like i would think that IHC would use? It,s wierd, but Ive seen plow,s like this one with two wheel,s the same size, But hardly any with left wheel bigger to compensate for the weight of plow. I gues they were called a little genius, or a #8 trip plow back then, And also, the blades have a shiny coating on them, corroded a little bit,but a clear look to them like chrome,or nickel, I thought all these type of plow,s had black painted blades,& color coded blade back,s, I even thought that the black color would be on the top of the shiny part on the blade,s, But I dont see any black paint on them, Could the black paint on the blades be all worn off,and then this is showing underneath? No I dont think so,as this dosnt make any sense. Mc Cormick was with IHC,& I dont think they would split any Idea to paint plow,s a different color. The wheel,s on this plow are a straw color, Not yellow, maybe faded a little bit from time gone by, I dont think anyone would paint a plow a different color just because they liked it better that way yrs ago, I guess Im an Originality nut, I like to find out how thing,s were from where they were made. I guess Ill have to get a copy of that IHC 150 yrs of the company book, On this lister planter I have, I can tell right away what ccolor it was, but this plow is a different story,I guess ive not seen alot of them around.
