Is there any way to bend steel lever,s back straight?
The raising lever,s on my JD planter,and the IH little genius plow are bent to the right a little bit,
I dont wanna heat them up with a torch as they will get soft,and brittle,please help,

Take it off the machine, put it in a press, and straighten it. Local blacksmith is not too fond of heating steel to straighten it. Some of the attitude is due to not liking to spend money. He says, it got bent when it was cold, it can be straightened when it is cold.

I just fixed the one on my plow. I did it in a vise and a tourch. I may have did it wrong but it worked and I am not to worried about bending it or breaking it again.

Soft and brittle at the same time huh?

Soft is usually from a ruined temper, or a slow cooled metal that had been hardened. Brittle is usually from a fast cooled metal.. or from work hardening.

Even if you do heat he metal.. you have control of the time it takes to cool... You can always quench it at a certain point to get a good go between. Also.. take into consideration the metal you are working with. Is it a hardened metal.. plain iron? etc..

It,s plain Iron,and I didnt wanna bend it too much,
It,s the raising lever on this Lister plow,
And also On my Little Genius plow on left side,
Maybe a person could heat it up,
then bend it hust a little to be straight,

Those levers are made of common steel, you can apply as much heat as you want and you WILL not hurt them.
