Lightening up a Farmall M

What have you all done to lighten up the front of an M?It looks like that wishbone steering support could be cut up,has anyone done that?Have taken out the pump,belt pulley,pto,running low on gear oil.Trying to get it down to 4500.

i run 7 gal. of gear lube but if u still use the pto for the dyno u will have to put more in i put the lighter gas tank mount from a 39 also a 44 or older tourque tube that would lighten it up to 4100 with just a front and rear wieght bracket also with all accesorries removed and press steel all the way around and air cleaner removed and just a pipe from carb sticking through the hood with the precleaner on it

Seen a SM once,, down to 4250, seen a M down to 3900. Both had aluminum top plates, a custom lower bolster, stock upper bolster, weld on hubs, with 15.5X38's. Oh! they had aluminum front frame rails too,,, Ive seen top plates made of wood, Ive seen front ends made out of pipe, Ive cut the upper bolster down, and thats no picnic,, LOL!! I used a 7 inch hand grinder with a concrete blade and just started cutting one night on the H's front end,, 2 days later,,,,, ,,,,, I had a 80 lb upper bolster, for a H. ChadS

I have been thru this on an H which I assume is the same design. The wishbone steering support is hollow and relatively thin casting. The cast iron that supports the hand crank mechanism can be sawed out and a light weight lower pedestal can be made that incorporates some lighter wheels and tires. I can take some pics if this isn't clear enough.
