belong to a antique tractor club and have Dad"s old H painted up. anyway the guys in this club all have garden tractors and have pulls with them. It looks fun and I want to buy one but don't want do drop a small fortune in one wife said I have enough bad habbits. I found a 1978 cub cadet 1200 series that won't start for 300$ would this make a decent pulling tractor? I don't want to go all out pro just don't want to be in last place either. any advice would be great. Thanks

Where are you located? I have a C.C. 128 w/ a rebuilt(complete) 16 hp. single kohler in it. Less than 12 hours on rebuild. The clutch is built slightly and has never slipped. Good paint, several top five finishes. No time anymore. Would like to get $600. Located in NW Pennsylvania.

I've pulled for over 20 years and the rules keep changing. A 1200 would be a great start. Heavy solid shaft drive rear end, great single cylinder 12 hp kohler, solid machine. I do like 10 hp kohlers, they are a shorter stroke and you can wind them up more, again, it depends on the rules. Pound for pound cubcadet is the best puller in my opinion.

You definetly made the right choice with cub cadet. Many many bolt on aftermarket stuff for them. I haven't pulled garden tractor for a while now, but midwest super cub>Link
