Thanks to Junior & Vicki Crum for another great pull event held at Columbia, Missouri. Thanks to EVERYONE that helped make this another successful event. It is such a pleasure to spend so much time and to have so much fun with such a great group of people that share my same obsession. I look forward to seeing you all for the 2008-2009 NATPA season.

Dear Mr. B.S. I do not make assumptions with out being able to back them up. I basically had a tractor involved with this issue, and a lot of friends too. I do know the whole story. The President called me the next day in which we had a great visit. I thought that it showed a lot of class on Brads part and I appreciated that. If you werent at the board meeting ether, then how the hell do you know all the facts then? I do! Its been worked out and everyone will move on. I felt this needed to be brought up because a lot of people at the pull did not understand why one 880 went home. One stayed on the trailer, and the 3rd 880 was running with lowered rpm. (Who still won by the way). Ive been at this game for along time. Ive put on a lot of pulling events threw the years and been on several boards. Ive built just about every brand tractor out there. Ive been with the NATPA when it got started and I know B.S. when I hear it. I addressed this incident for a lot of people who contacted me about this situation and spoke for them and myself. If you attended the pull I hope you saw other things that happened that weekend. If you make a protest it has to be made when the tractor in question is on the track not a day before the pull starts or two hours after the class is finished. A board member can, but a puller cannot. This was another one of several incidents that occurred. Again, I support the NATPA all the way. Its the best game in town with a lot of wonderful people involved. But, I dont like to see people getting intercoursed when its not necessary. Rules are Rules YES. But, you have to be consistent across the board with all classes, all tractors and all people participating. Please drop me an E-Mail or phone call if you need to hear more or need all the facts. Ive never had to much trouble backing up what I say or do.

Is it that difficult to hook a tach to every tractor as it goes down the track shown on a display board on the sled? Seems it would end a little of the bickering.

while were looking at everyones tractor for correct parts how does a ford 600 in2007 go to a 601 in 2008 and pull the same classes and is it a massey block or a ford the massey has room for more cubes in a lighter tractor

Bigmotors, you seem to make a lot of assumptions in your statement. 1st - Robert's Rules allows the "Board" to fill a board position for the remaining term of a resigning board member by "Board" appointment. When the term is up for re-election is when that person must be re-elected to the Board by the NATPA members. 2ndly, whether or not the Div 5 tractors have been tech approved and allowed to run, when someone protests those same tractors you must apply the existing Div 5 rules that have been approved by the members of the NATPA. You can't ignore the rules. You can ignore the tech approval. Two wrongs don't make a right. In order to move forward, the Board was faced with a difficult decision and I commend the Board for applying the existing Div 5 rules, regardless. It was a tough call with no winners. Let me also add, that the Board meeting was a closed meeting, so unless you were part of the Board, you may not know all the facts. Get ALL the facts first before you make allegations! And, NO I am NOT a Board member, just another puller present at the pull.

Im glad that everybody had a good time. From what I was told that three 880 Oliver owners werent so happy about the pull. First off, I find it odd that these three tractors have been legal for years, but now the night before the national championship which decides who wins points for the season that they are not meeting the rules. All because some guy thats pulled for couple of years now is getting tired of getting beat and decided to complain. So the board decided to turn the 880s rpm down to what an 88 runs for the finals. I remember when this was brought up a long time ago for 77 and 88s to run higher rpms like a 770 and 880. It was denied and several pullers then quit pulling because of it. Now its okay to change? Its hard to just turn down a Div.5 tractor which has a cam, governor, carburetor, and linkage set up for a certain rpm at the last minute. Its funny that Jacks tractor was legal when Bear owned it. The tractor has been pulling in the NATPA for close to ten years!
I know that Dodge bought his 880 from an Oliver collector and John is on the board for Gods sake. Why would these guys go to all that trouble to lighten up the wrong chassis? Lets say that all three are wrong. Lets say that the tractors do need to be changed. The board mishandled the situation. The board should have set all three tractors in a row and have the tech crew check them out and tell them what needs to be changed for the next pull which would be a start to a new season.
You guys have opened a bag worms here. What about Super Cs with 230 sheet metal. What about 44 Masseys with 101 and 30 rearends. What about RC rearends used in WC and WDs. Oliver 66 and 77 pedestals used on 88s. Its okay to run a combine motor, a motor out of a straight truck or a power unit out of some hospital or wheat farm, but you cannot run a rear axel housing that has the same dimensions. I also like the way board members quit and then were replaced with out anyone knowing or having any say so in it. The board needs to learn the Roberts law on how to run a paid membership organization. There is a voting process that must be followed to determine what goes on. Divisions 4 and 5 are dying out. 4000 and 4250 lbs. DIV #4 didnt even have a tractor in the championship pull off this year. Thats not good. So why mess with the lone survivors. The reason Im writing this is because I support the NATPA 100% and I can not just stand by and watch the destruction of a lot of hard work that people have put forward to have a good and functional club. Many of us sacrifice time and money (the price of fuel being what it is, not to mention all of the associated travel costs) to attend the pulls. We better work with devoted and loyal pullers instead of showing them the door.

What was the board"s reasoning for making these "880"s" run 88 RPM? Did someone accuse them of being nothing more than an 88 tractor with 880 sheetmetal?

You mention SC Farmalls using 230 metal. I know for a fact of atleast one doing this. While they"re at it, the board may also need to consider undoing the "Bill Burch" rule, where a AC-WC can run D-17 RPM, but the 88 cant run 880 RPM, etc, etc for each brand.

Did anyone else notice on Friday during the 6000 or 6500 Div V class (dont remember which one, just lots of MM-GVI) how some tractors had to rev up on the throttle stop for an RPM check and a couple did nothing more than blip the throttle barely off idle and drive on thru?

I was told the rpms were being monitored as people were going down the track, too. There was tech people watching throttles being open up (to stops or not), toggle switch games, etc)...just a few was trying to play games, then they quit on their own after warnings or a DQ got them to quit I guess. Regarding the other stuff, I don't know!

call the board and talk about it...talking about it on this forum is nothing more than ranting and raving like CHADS....from what I heard, there was several things going on that you can't possibly tell everyone within a day. I assume you was at the pull and asked about it there? If so what did you hear, or are we keyboard typing/pulling??

I have an idea too pal. Wanna hear it? No? good! Dont worry,, if it can be done to help throw somebody of track of thier path to give somebody else the advantage, it will be done, and nobody, nobody will know till its time. To think,,, I was actually liking what Ive seen with the new NATPA,,, I guess, some couldnt help it but to stir the pot and could not help themselves but to meddle. Oldest trick in the book!! I rant and rave,,, cause when things happen, nobdy has a chance to speak about it till its over and done with. If ya cant take the heat, stay the heck out of the kitchen. Whats a matter? Dont like hearing the voice of the regular guy who wants to have fun? Who worked hard all season just to get to the last pull and BOOM! Rules changed. Id be ticked off too!!! Oh wait,, I was ticked! It happened to me too!! At the exact same pull!! Not to mention the rest of the hanky pankey that went on that weekend too. A simple explanation is in order on why this was done. its their story let em tell it however they want to. But somebody,,, knows the truth and did not say a darn thing to anybody. Was he/she asked to keep quiet? Maybe, maybe not. Id stayed out of this topic if this guy wouldnt have brought me into it. Sorry, the voices are at it again. ChadS

One more thing,,, and something froze over,,, I like what ive seen in the last 3 years in NATPA. Things have gotten better, I hear it everyday! I read it here too! So, keep it up! Change is good. Id love to know who the crooked person is that made that rpm rule change! Anyways,,, if the 880s got beat, then they should be upset, but if they did not, then nothing really changed and the rule did not change the outcome of the final results,, but,, its still not right to change rules, especially during the big show,,,, or dance whatever,,,, Once again,, things look to be going great in NATPA,,, Id find that fella and ask him why he wants to tarnish it now? do they have a rules disclaimer? says rules will be in effect till the next season?

Was told by those that was there the outcome was not affected...thank goodness! All those guys were put in a tough spot, I've heard some of the details, but you really never know if you know it all--guess I don't need too. I know they tried to uphold what rules are there. I heard some of the 880 guys were calmer Saturday, knew they were in a gray area, and respected (not agreed 100%), but respected what was done. We pulled out east with NATPA and was very happy. CHADS---sit down for this---but I agree and respect you saying positive about NATPA. The guys there now can't change what happened to you in the past, but I like your attitude on them now. Why don't you hit an east one next winter and we'll visit...you gained some respect from me and my buddies.....later

Somebody bring back the Indy Super pull!! Make it an antique event and have a ball!! Id probably go to it! Im sure there is a building big enough to handle the attendance.

Rule changes are meant for post season planning,,,not before/during the last event of the season. When that stuff quits happening, Ill come play, till then, Im watching. (wouldnt want to go into a big pull with a blindfold on ya know) LOL! Right? I know why it was done,,, to play head games with the winnin drivers,,, throw a curve ball, when they are used to hitting fast balls out of the park! LMAO!! But, compared to 98-99 season,, its getting better for you fellas,,,,, just try to keep this from happening again and you will gain alot of pullers back. JMHO. Chad

Why not combine both DIV 4&5 with 12 mph its better than one or two tractors per class.

Well if you can't have a good time with that group of people you're not looking to have a good time. Thanks everyone who has the time to put all these pulls on, but especially Jr. and Vicki.
