What is wrong with the block as it sits now? Does it have sleeves, if so what is wrong with them? Also, what # is the block, 1,2,or 3? The reason I ask is because depending on the condition of the block/sleeves, and also what someone is going to quote you for a new set of sleeves, it may very well not be worth it to just sleeve it back to the stock 6". Also, #1 and #3 blocks that are ready to go are in the $1,000-$1,200 (around here anyways), but #2 blocks aren't even worth that much as they are by far the most common/cheapest, so it may not be worth dumping that much money into a block if you can find another one for less. Plus, you'd still have the block you have, and there is still value in it for guys who are planning on sleeving out to big bores 6.5"+, where its not worth taking a perfectly good stock block if there is a good block with bad sleeves to use instead. If sleeves for 6" are going to run you around $1,000 for a set, you may just as well sleeve it bigger. Merfeld among others could set you up with something in the neighborhood of 6.25 or 6.375 farily reasonable, and then you can take a set of oversize "G" pistons and turn the top down even necessary and go that route, and then you'd have a nice fresh block/pistons, with additional cubes, for a similar price. Also, with a set-up like that you're not running hard-block and minimal coolant capacity, it would be a motor you could easily run all day as well. Just my 2 cents.
