In Tractor pulling, which would be a better carb? I know the 400 carb. is a newer version, but that isn't always better. Charles

When I put a 350 engine in my H, I started out with the newer style carb. It had the idle screw in the carb flange where it bolts to the manifold. Had nothing but problems with it. I don't know how many times I cleaned it but could never get it to run right. Switched the top half to an older style carb (has the idle screw on an angle lower down on the throttle body) and it ran totally different. Ran excellent! I used the same bowl, venturi and metering stem.
Cheers!

Sid
