Red Diamond in M

I asked last night about putting a red diamond in my M farmall. I know it wont be easy, and the only bolt on pieces I have questions about are flywheel, starter, and side frames. should I lengthen mine from the M or use ones from a 560? No big deal either way, just if they will work, I"d use 560 rails. The flywheel/ring gear. and starter are the only part that have me concerned. I already have the 450 RD that ran like an animal in an r 190. Thanks, Frank

Few years ago I saw one in a 44 Massey Harris. It was a pretty mean machine. Still together but sitting in the shed. When installing all they had to do was cut the drive line.

I have put in many different motors in farmall M's But not a red diamond My suggestion would be to Index the red diamond block to the M plate at the M bellhousing Use the M flywheel as the starter comes in from the back side of the bellhousing you will probably have to make a spacer/adapter from crankshaft to fly wheel Keep in mind the red diamond motor will have to be balanced or M fly wheel will have to be balanced to red diamond motor or it will shake itself to death use 560 rails use a 6 blade fan and speed it up good clean M radiator will keep it cool Put a belt drive governor on it and run about 2100 to 2500 RPM and flywheel will live I have put many chrysler 318s 383 440 in Ms (they are internally balanced from the factory) makes nice swap I use them on the farm Haven't pulled them But built my first one in 1980's and is still running great if you would like a photo of my M with 318 email me don't know how to attach here [email protected]

Frame rails will have to be clearance in order to clear rd bellhousing. there is no flywheel setup to my knowledge that will bolt up to the rd and work in a M/560.Something will have to be adapted.

Send me an email and I can give you some details on what all will have to be done. I can also send you some pictures of what the adapter for the flywheel will look like and such. I have put one of these engines in a 560, flywheel/bellhousing is basically the same.

If it wil fit in a 460 or 560 that where I would put it, most clubs will not allow it to pull in any class because its not the original engine
