after reading chads post . i realiize that my thinking of staying under 18.1 is wrong . wondering now what a d17 with 30.1 static compression will do after all they are basically a restrictor plate engine. with the small intake and updraft carb.

Put a deck plate on it, set the cyl pressure by the thickenss of the plate, thicker would be less pressure, thinner would be more. How thick??? dont know,,, ChadS [email protected]

My old engine, came out to 14.25 to 1 this time around, 12.5 to 1. Only thing is the same on this one is the crank and cam,,, everything else, was built/rebuilt to match up. Poured in the hard block just yesterday, closer,,,, closer,, to hearing it run!! Im anticipating 250 psi of cyl pressure. No orings, with water, No milling of the head either,,,, Shooting for 110hp at rated rpm, and way under 300ci. Sounds doable doesnt it?? ChadS [email protected]

should show higher than that on a gauge . unless restricted greatly for air or alot of overlap .

The size of the gear reduction starter required to turn it over will put you up at least two weight classes, add the weight of the super high voltage CDI and Special designed Ign coil to force the spark between the electrodes at that compression ratio, And you will probably have to figure a way to girdle the spark plugs to keep from stripping the threads out of the head, and the cost of having VP design a fuel for that CR!!!!! ----- there may be some real technical issues to overcome!!!!! !

mel chad saw one run at 130.1 static thats what a d17 is with only the volume of a head gasket like he posted earlier . im only looking at half that much . but dont underestimate the spark energy of msd.ever figure what the compression ratio is on them alky tractors with four chargers are when there spun up.

Imagine the cam overlap on that baby!! WHEW! may as well drill petcocks in the sides and leave em open while its running. Put little igniters right there, shoot fire out it. ChadS
