I just purchased a conventional tandem sleeper truck with a 24' box to haul pulling tractors in and am wondering if anyone knows of a way to insure and license similar to a motor home instead of a truck.

What will your total weight be? If it's not over 26K you don't need a CDL or medical card as long as it is NOT FOR COMMERCE!!! Meaning you haul only for your own personal purposes. Call your state DOT they are usually more than happy to send you the state DOT book for free, mine does. I live in Maryland.

The requirements vary from state to state, so check with your license bureau.
I had a box truck set up like this,Sleeping quarters (truck sleeper), sanitation (porta potty), Cooking (12 volt coffee maker). This met the requirements of my state.
The only problem I had, the ramps had to be long and support the weight of the tractor (heavy and awkard).

Thanks, ramps wont be a problem because my back door doubles as a fold down ramp which easily supports the tractor. If I may ask, what state are you in?

Arkansas. The insurance was not a problem after I got the truck registered as a motor home. I hope your door/ramp is not to steep, that is the reason mine were so long and heavy.
Let me know how it comes out.
