Send the electronic IGN back. you can use the points as the trigger device and get the same results then use the white wire.
the magnetic hookup is the two wire plug,,,, One wire reads the magnetic pickup, and this is where Im unclear on,,,
the second wire if its a 12 volt positive + or Hot wire,,, what does it really do???? does the msd power the petronix to be able to send a signal to the msd??? I mean,, the petronix is hot and ground,,(black), ground being the signal wire coming from the distributor,,, and the red was power source,,,, best I can say is to hook everything up except the pickup,, if the MSD has power etc etc,,, with the switch on,,, one of the wires in that two wire plug will be 12 volt+, that gets hooked to the red wire,,, (if its 12 volt+) the black is the actual signal wire,,, (from the petronix) that hooks up to the other wire,, in that plug,,,,, NOW heres the deal I have a problem with,,,,,
if the petronix, if the black wire pulses upon engine rotation,,, then no power wire is even needed to the petronix to trigger the MSD,,,,, just hook up the black wire from the petronix to the white wire,,,, on the msd if that pickup still sends a signal (pulse) with no power to the petronix,,,,thats all the msd needs and wire it normally and nevermind the two wire plug,,,,
If that works with the white wire,, and the petronix,,,
this can reduce the load off the MSD by not having to power both, the unit, the coil and the pickup and not overload the circuits,,,,, but easiest,,,,, the points work great as a trigger,,,,, just unhook the condensor wire, and go with it!!!??? I was thinking it can be done either way,,,,, ,, been a while since ive tried that with a petronix. Hope this helps,, ChadS [email protected]
