Those of you that have purchased crankshafts and pistons from Denny's Carb Shop: Are you satisfied with the quality, fit and finish. I have been looking for a stroker IH M shaft like the old M&W 5 3/4 stroke but can't find any and he advertises the 6" kit. Machine shops are too slow at getting things done and would prefer to buy one soon.

I would look up HAPCO. The cranks are very reasonable and they hold up well. I know a couple reputable builders that use them. Stamm equipment in Wayland, MI is very good as well. They cost a bit more.

Denny's cranks are usually made by HAPCO Rebuilders of Terre Haute IN. HAPCO makes a good quality crank at a reasonable price. You can save a bunch of $$$ by buying direct from them. You do have to know what you want though, they don't do any engineering, they just make the crank.

Denny's is the WORSE place to find IH parts. Rude people and crappy parts.

Buyer Beware!!!

I know its a little bigger than you are looking for, but Murphys Motor Service has a 4.300" x 7.000" rotating assembly kit (crankshaft, billet connecting rods-not welded, forged pistons w/ rings, and bearings. Add-ons to the kit include an ARP headstud kit and a headgasket that fits around the sleeve counterbore so you dont have to fill it in). I think Jeff still has one kit left that hasnt been sold yet.

If the pistons he has left are for a gas engine they have a small dome to make 11:1 compression and if it's for the LP head they will have a small dish. Both make 11:1, but if you use the LP head and gas pistons you'll end up around 14:1

Paul Marlatt, 765-938-2227, there is a reason people don't trust Denny's junk.
