farmall m govenor and distirbutor drive

first ? i have a farmall m distributor drive and the bottom bolts will line up but the top bolts will not i was wondering if there are 2 diffrent distributor drives second ? what can i do to the stock govenor to make it respond better and get more power with out spending a lot of $$ any advice would be appreciated

go to the hardware. Before you do,, I want to tell you this,,,, think about how many years it took to find out what works. How much work we did to our equipment to do better competitively,, and if and only if a few years of work aint worth nothing, then by all means, go to the hard ware. I will not drop that price. i think hes being sarcastic on the spring just tie strap the spring you have so it dont stretch out but a warning this eliminates your gov from workin so dont run it wide open unless its under load or youll be bying a new engine

An "M" and a Super M did have slightly different drive bolt patterns. Use a rat-tail file to oblong your holes a little.

The point is to change the governor spring. The man wanted a cheap "fix"for the governor. I'm sure the one Chads sells makes the governor more responsive, but it must be "magic" to be worth what he sells it for. It's a $2 spring! I guess if you're too lazy to go to a hardware store to find one yourself, then you can pay him the $25-30 he wants for one.
