We're planning to put a double disk clutch in one of our M's (has DT407+ in it). We want to keep the pressure plate face at the same location so that the clutch linkage works the same, and just make the flywheel deeper to make room for the floater plate and clutch disks - there should be enough room for this.

The problem I see is that once we go deeper with the flywheel, the splined input shaft from the M won't be long enough to reach the pilot bearing. We haven't ordered clutch disks yet, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a place to get a custom input shaft made, or if there is another tractor with a longer input shaft that we could use in it? I'd think we could turn the end down for the pilot bearing with no problems, but the other end would need to be at least close to make work.

I run a billet flywheel and hayes double disk slipper in my M. I also run the factory spline shaft and clutch linkage. One thing to consider is the arm length and travel on the stock versus slipper. With stock linkage there is only about 1/2" travel in the pedal from free to engaged. It will push in further but is not needed. My point is that this may allow you to move the pressure plate back. Shoot me a mail if you want some measurements.

I think I can help you with that. call Earl, 574-893-7437. You might get away with a slip over coupler,,, that slides over the stock M splines and has the OD splines to what ever you had, or had made,, and make the coupler, longer to reach back farther?? does this sound possible?? But we can cut the splines, for sure. ChadS

Not sure about the date.... around the 13th-ish?? I think they need to know by the meeting next tuesday - at least that"s when I plan on putting our numbers in.
