I would like to build an MM GVI. Im not sure where to start after buying the tractor. I would like to build one for our 6 mph class. I always hear something about an HD-800 engine but Im not sure what that is? Any help would be appreciated.

The 800"s that came as dealer options in the tractors were small bellhousing motors. They would not be a "bolt in" engine like the older 800"s. Not to mention that they cost considerably more to find and buy.

A HD800 is a MM power unit that was originally built to run off of LP gas. It was mostly used as a well motor in the midwest. If you get an early 2 piece rear main seal motor all you have to have to bolt it in a GVI is a diesel flywheel off of the GVI. A good 6 mile motor won"t matter if you have 4228 or 4229 heads as both will be more than enough hp. If you"re going to go faster the 29 heads make more compression from the factory.

I'm pulling a GVI with a 605 motor. Was this also a irrigation engine? Thanks.

Yes, 605 & 800 were once common for large power units or irrigation well engines ran on LPG or natural gas. MM put a 800 LP in the 4x4 A4T tractor from the factory and some MM dealers put them in G1000 series also out to farmers.
