It seems like the cost of pulling is getting out of control. I don't mean the money spent on the tractor, but the hook, and other fees. One club has raised their hook fee to $40.00 per hook, not sure what the payback is.
I help run a pull and we raised our rates to $15.00 per hook last year. trophies for 1,2,3 no pay back.
I love to pull, but $40.00 per hook, cost of gas or fuel, lunch if you don't bring it and some places will still charge your wife and kid to get in to watch,$20.00 and one place that charges you; the puller to get in the gate and also the stands to watch, (which i think is crazy) can add up to $150.00 easy.
I would rather pay a lower hook fee and get no trophy or money. That just my opinion.

Just wondering what some other places are charging.

I agree the costs are getting out of control, but there is still some places that charge 15 or 20$ and have a decent payback. hawkins has a 15$ hook fee, no gate or stand fees, and it has 100$ first place and pays like 5 places.....100, 70, 50, 25, 15...if memory serves me right...two cylinder could shed some more light on the area.

I'm in central pa the dues are usually $5/yr and most hook fees are $5/hook 3 hook limit. The club I belong to has 6 pulls a year plus the county fair and 200 hooks a day is the average.

At our local county fair here, we pulled for free until this last year. Limited to 2 hooks per tractor. This last year we went to $15/hook, maximum 2 hooks. Sled repairs and maintenance and to raise money for digital equipment is why we started charging a fee. Our trophies, pullback tractor, announcer, track maintaining equipment, etc. have always been sponsered. The fair association insurance covered the pull. No dues. The other two local pulling clubs in the area charge $10 and $15/hook, depends on what is covered or sponsored I guess. Sometimes $5 practice hook on Friday evenings, sometimes free. Once in a while the hooks are free (like Hondo this past year). There may be dues of $20 for one of these clubs. Them hook fees keep us from bringing everything in the barn to the pull. We bring only what pulls competitively for a given track.

Do all of you guys have puller insurance. We charge $25 to join and $10 a hook 50% payback and barely break even with all of our cost. We do give jackets to class winners.

Free entry for the class winner in their class the next year at points pulls. Besides, the Jackets are really nice. Just ask Jess.

We have three clubs in our area of Va and Wva. All charge $5.00 per hook. We pull 2000# thru 12,000# classes. Trophys to the top 5 tractors in each class. We do sell sponsorships to pay for the trophys.
