Stock Antique Class rule # 5 NO altered tire cutting , trimming , etc allowed . Does that mean NO TOP CUT tire ? rule # 17 A factory draw bar with clevis is required or a draw bar with 20" maxinum height to the top of the draw bar with mimunum 3/4" thicknes 18" mimunum draw bar length from the center of the rear axle to the back of the hole . Does that mean that all stock tractor have to pull with a CLEVIS or will a 3" hole in the draw bar be OK ? Thanks Tom

Micheal - You have a "stock" class, and there are those who think that only "stock" tractors should be in there. So.... Farmers from 300 miles away are going to bring their "farm tractors" to the pull? I doubt that. Most likely "pullers" who have modified tractors will make the journey. You'll have a handfull of locals who have mostly stock tractors there, and the rest will be "pullers". The Top Cut rule is one of the silliest rules out there. To me, it doesn't make any sense... If you're a "puller" then run pulling tires. Can't see much use in running "top cuts" in the field. Can't back up. After running down the road for 20 years, NATURAL tires are sharp - I don't want to be the one telling someone his tires are cut or aren't cut (road worn), so why not just let people cut the tires however they want to? This is a lot bigger issue than just your pull, and the people that make the rules will probably never change it, but many times the only difference between 2 classes is the tires, the tractors are the same, and both should most of the time be in the more advanced class, but they throw some "top cuts" on so they can run the easier class...

For instance, for me, you don't really have a class for me. I've got a slightly altered B with cut tires on it, and I've got a set of top cuts that I haven't used in 10 years. I don't really want to be in an open speed, 3000 RPM class, but I wouldn't mind an open speed 10% over class. But I can't run the stock class because my tires don't fit your rules. Not sure what "must retain stock appearance means". My tractor wasn't built with weight brackets or wheelie bars, which is ok, but is it ok to have an aluminum radiator, water pump, and elec fan? You're fairly close, so I'd like to pull down there once just for fun, but I don't want to drive 4 hours for nuttin either...

Tom, A 3" hole in the draw bar is fine. Personally I like it better than the clevis. Just make sure that you meet the requirements of no more than 20" high and 18" from the center of the axle to the back of the hole. If you are running top cut tires according to our rules you should run super class; However there is alot of discussion about allowing top cut tires in stock. I'm going to look into this matter at the 1st pull and may change the rule.
Michael

Make a decision on your rules now and stand by them, quit being so indecisisve. Either run your track or let others run over you.
