How does a set of 14.9x38 do on a 15 inch rim? Is this a good tire and rim combo? 14.9 is the biggest I can run!

Thanks

Thank you for all of your replies. So maybe a 14" rim is the best choice!

Thanks

I run my 14.9's on a 16" rim and they hook up like no tommorow. But like as the others said check your rules to see if they allow it. They were also right a 15" rim is hard to find - I couldnt find one. My dad ran his on 14" rims and they did fine.

Craig - I must be brain dead. 14" rims are most commonly associated with 15.5 tires. I went out and looked at my 14.9's and it says use a 13" rim. So, the 14 inch would be a good choice. Personally, I sure wouldn't go wider than 15". If you already have some 15" go ahead and try them. 15X38 aren't rare by any means but there sure are a lot more 12" and 14" or 16" rims out there. I sure wouldn't put them on anything narrower than 12" either. 14 inch would be my first choice if your rules allow it.

J. Most of the 14.9's I've seen recommend a rim 12" wide. I agree, the tires work better on a 14" rim or even a 15" rim.

Craig - 14.9 X 38 will work great on 15" rims. The recommended rim size by the book is 14". Better check your club rules though.....Around here if running uncut tires, you must run a rim no wider than the tire size is made for. Or in other words, if is says "on a 14 inch rim" on the tire, that is as wide as our rules will allow. Hope that helps and good luck. Remember...have fun!
