At the moment, we have nothing but rain, but shoot, 20 miles north it can be snowing, 20 miles east it can be raining, 20 miles south can be freezing rain, 20 miles west, well, sunshine,, (cause the storm had moved thru, west to east) HAHA!! The back roads in the last few days have been very slick, and kinda glad to see the rain to melt the roadways off from the large patches of ice. I imagine, later today it will switch over to ice,,, at least, thats what the forcast is to be. At one time in life, I was an over the road truck driver. Flatbed, and the most I dont miss about it, is tarping up a load in the snow, rain I can hanfdle,, but those big ol tarps, are not good on fingers, when tryin to roll up the tarps, or cover up the load. That, and the deck of the trailer being an ice rink,,,, Chad [email protected]

Well, thats on the row crops,, Utility,,, if the upper bolster is the same, and the 4 bolt holes are up front for the bracket, then your ok,,, but if it has no holes,, then you may want to look at wheel weights as more of a stock look. Does it have cast or pressed steel rims on the front??? I was walking thru an old salvage yard a whle back,, had alot of old combines parted out, and alot of em had a set of some sort of weight that bolted to the rim itself,,, I found a 403 IH combine that had a real nice set of tires and rims, with the weights on both,, got em for 100 bucks for everything,,, IH weights,, they dont look like the ones off the ol H or M,, but kinda sorta,, but will bolt on to any pressed steel rim that has the 4 square holes in the rims for weights. I know its getting cold out,, but Ive had good luck with balancing out a tractor with no front end weights,,, filled the front tires full of water,, both of em,, was good for about 100lbs. The guys tha tried to copy that tractor by not running weights got a surprize,,, when they ran they were light, and I stayed down and kept on going. Good Luck! Chad

Thanks again Chad. I'm going to check out one of those front brackets. I also thought about going to local dealer. He's usually pretty good about pulling up parts pages on computer. Hope the ice and snow don't get you. I know all about Northern In. winter. I grew up in Lake Station, In. Don't miss it at all. doorman

The factory front frame wts for a 460 are the slabs that bolt to the front. They are made so you can add slab to front of slab.

Thanks for the reply. Is that the type of weight you were referring to on the farmall page? If anyone has a picture it would be very helpful. doorman

The 460 I had had the front suitcase weight bracket, same as used on up to a 1456. Im not saying its the correct one, but it did, bolt right up and had a IH part number,, whether it was for a 460 or not,, dont know,,, I was thinking if it had the cast wheels like the H or M it would use the same wheel weight as the H or M,,, the 300,350, 400-450 had the slab weights that bolted to the frame rails, and had a pin that slid thru the very front of the bolster,,, 2 or 3 piece set,,, 450-560 did not use this style of weights,, (like the 300-450) the bolster did not have the places for the pins up front,,, Just my opinion, thought that if the IH weight bracket bolts right on to the nose of that 460,,, with no alterations, you SHOULD be allowed to use it. See, in our club, farm stock did not used to be able to use suitcase weights,,, well, the 560 had the front weight bracket like the newer 56 tractors,, and used suitcase weights, factory, well they kept the year break right up to the 1957 break to keep the 460/560 out to eliminate the conversation. Now, we use suitcase weights,,,, but, still, they are afraid of the 60 series tractors at their little pulls. Anyways, If it bolts on, and you did not have to alter one darn thing to use it,, I say, well I said that already didnt I?? JMHO, ChadS [email protected]

Thanks, Chad S. That"s what I was thinking. I help the local sled owner promote pulls and am using my IH 460 Utility. It is a little light in the front end, and I didn"t want to do anything that would cause controversy about pulling in farm stock. I pulled it the first time in 5000# farmstock at a weight of 4750#. I have bolt-on rear weights to add to the rear, but needed some help up front. Thanks, doorman
