i was wondering if anyone knows what or how to advance the timing on the oliver 88 diesels. they say if you advance it just a little you can get more horsepower.

i know that you have to turn the plate under the matal plate on the front of the pump. but im unsure if you turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise. do you have any idea and do you know how much horsepower this will give me

turn the pump one way and take it for a ride, if it looses power turn it the other way, be sure and mark the pump and timing cover with a paint stick before you start messing with it. you wont gain much power, but by advancing the timeing you will make the tractor over heat if you take it to far
