Make sure you use lead washers on the headstuds between the head and the nuts to get the right torque

block to case you can use a little permatex or related product, head gaskets had same prob on some...I have used some sealants on those also...make sure you start in the center, work your way out on tightening, also to correct torque values

we've been happier with the felpro compared to Quality JD and at a portion of the cost

I have had good luck with the after market. I'm not in the shop but I think they are fel-pro.head gasket, valve cover, manifold and stud washers around 1/2 what a Deere head gasket cost.I have one on an A with a power block running 1/3 more compression than a standard A with no problems.Did you retorque your head after a few warm ups?

730-LP is right, check the torque on the head. I"ve had some start leaking but after a re-torque all was well. You might be surprised how much the nuts actually turn. A stock head gasket will usually handle double the factory compression with no problem, they"re actually pretty good gaskets.
