Kurt gives good advice, if you have the 160 cid engine instead of the earlier 149 cid so much the better. Dump the PA rims find a set of 26" wheels & tires off a combine, tune it up good with a proper pulling hitch & tip bars, get it in the 3250 or 3500 class & win some pulls!!

Sorry it took so long to respond guys my computer has been down. The tractor does have the 149cid engine. I currently have the tractor tore down and restoring it. following your advise i wont be boring the engine but i am having the cam stepped up a notch and plan on putting LP pistons in for increased comp. You both mention a good hitch I have looked at lot of variations on hitches. I have been dirt track racing for 15 years and i know the hitch plays a big role just like the proper set up on your car what kind of tips can you give me on building a good hitch and what do you think about the small engine mods i am doing.

Well if it runs you have a decent start. D-15's were around 40 h.p. right? Thats not bad. I have a seen a couple in my area do pretty well in stock classes. Get the tractor down to 3500# class. Get your hitch setup up right and a good set of firestone tires on widened rims and you have yourself a pretty decent puller. Going with an over bore kit will gain u very little really. Get the tractor running right and go have some fun in the stock classes. I think you will do fairly well.
