HAD FINAL PULL FOR THE SEASON. INPROVED A LITTLE WITH NEW TIRES,NEW CARB. BUT CAN NOT KEEP UP WITH THE BUILT ENGINS IN THE ANTIQUE CLASS. WHAT CAN I DO TO COMPET WIT THEM NEXT SEASON? THANKS ERIC

Maybe put 3-3/4 bore sleeves with 88 pistons in em. Should be the same compression height and pin diameter. I know of a piston at 3-3/4 bore to use with a small stroker,, but its never been tried to know what it would do.

Is your hitch up as high and as far in as the rules allow? Tires with 50% tread, age hardened and with a nice road worn front edge are a lot better in most cases than brand new tires. What tire size are you running and on what width rim? What is the biggest size of tires allowed in your class at the weights you run? Is your front end coming upa little towards the end of your pulls? Are you spinning out or powering out at the end of the pull? How much farther do the hotter tractors pull? Have you dyno tuned your tractor? Is the compressionclose to equal between cylinders? How much time do you spend studying the track for low and high spots, wet areas, etc.?

I LIKE 4000LB. TO 5500LB. RULES? SEEMS LIKE WHAT EVER YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH. 3 MPH IN ANTIQUE.NO CUT TIRES. I GET BEAT BY TRACTORS THAT CAN PULL IN THE MODIFIED ANTIQUE, THEY JUST SLOW DOWN THE TRACTOR.DO YOU JUST SEE WHAT YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH?

3 mph will take away some of there big HP then it comes to the tires and setup . Look at there tires new, half wore out , top cuts , road wore ? oliver 77 is a very good 4000 -4500 lb tractor with the right setup and tire for the track that you pull on.Track suface means a lot too loose on top ,sand , hard packed , wet,????

WHERE DOES HORSPOWER COME IN TO PLAY?WOULD A BUILT MOTOR NOT HAVE THE ADVANTAGE EVEN AT 3 MPH.?DO YOU WANT TO SPIN OUT OR POWER OUT?DOES MOTOR RPM MATER THAT MUCH? IT JUST SEEMES TO ME THAT A TRACTOR RIGHT OUT OF THE FIELD SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PULL WITH A TRACTOR THAT HAS BEEN BUILT.

Maybe you should take your tractor to an "out of the field" pull. You wouldn't take a Yugo to the dirt track on saturday nite & expect to compete with those guys would you? In my opinion if you want to pull tractors at a "tractor pull" then you better step up your game just like the rest of the guys do. Once you get into it & figure it out, WHAM! your hooked. Build a pulling tractor & have a helluva good time & enjoy yourself!
