first, rods break easy, we had a set that did, and 2nd, u can have rods made. I'm sure it's pricy, but u know they will hold. 2nd, if they were made, u have to make sure it's right. If the price is right, and the guys that are welding them, they break, will he cover the damage, or will he just let it go. after all, he did the work:S
just my thought's

Your right, anything can break, and maybe welded rods don't belong where they shouldn't be in the first place, hard to say what the underlying factors where, but way too much compression or detonation was probably the cause, two cents.

You have to make a jig to do the rods right. That is if you want the center to center length to be exact. Merfeld does a good job on cranks. But his con rods are just butted together and weld. That is the ones I saw. To do the rods right they are butt weld and plated on the sides. The ones we have done have run for years no problem. They will take 10 to 11 to one compression plus over on RPM. E mail me I can walk you through the process.Earl

Merfeld did my rod's. They were laughed at by all the mechanical "expert's". But they work, and have ran now over 5yrs in hard lugging, hi rpm situations. I would do it again anytime on anything!
