Other then the bore, what differances are there? Question #2. Is the factory cam in the Super M the same as the 450 cam? I think no.
Thanks,
Charles

Not sure on the numbers but one had left hand threads and the other was right hand threads. They changed the thread direction due to the live pumps. Hope this helps

Late M block not a whole lot different from SM other than bore castings. 2 different cam numbers were used in a 450 and the original SM cam was not the same as either.

Thanks, any chance that you would have the cam numbers? I'm pulling apart a super M with a replacement 281 block and I'm curious which cam it is. I have a W-6 with the 248 engine in it and if the cam would be better, I'd change it out. Thanks,
Charles

If you can find a IH # on the camshaft they will have # 45955. If it ends with D it came in M or SM, if ends with DA 400 and some 450, if DB later 450 and this uses left hand threads for gear retaining nut. Be warned that cams were replaced over the years so any engine may have any of the different cams installed along with aftermarket cams and some of those have left hand threads.
