Hello i was wondering about the 5.9L cummins engine for pulling. How does it do for hot farm classes eventually into maybe a limited lightweight super? How are the white tractor rearends for pulling. Looking for a 100-140 that came with the little cummins. Share your experience or info please.

I have some Oliver/White buddies who have been running the 5.9 in a few different tractors. It sounds like they are using an SAE bellhousing. I know there is about $4000 in clutch and bellhousing parts to get. It was a common dealership motor swap back in the day, and there are even Oliver part numbers given to some of the parts. That's how the guys around here are getting them in to our hot farm class. One buddy purchased a gen 1 Dodge Cummins 3/4 ton 2wd pick up for $1200 to get his 12v 5.9, now he's debating spending all the money on the clutch parts. He was running a 310 diesel turbo charged in his row cropped 1800 down at 5000 lbs.

Wow, i wish i had guys willing to pay 4000 to get the engine bolted to the 3 speed. I have all the parts on the shelf and they add up to about 2300. New starter, new flywheel housing, used clutch housing, new flywheel, new pto drive hub, reman pressure plate, reman 8 pad button clutch disk, pilot & throwout bearing, and flywheel bolts.

dodge truck guys get about 800 horse around here. only catastrophes i've heard of, other than drive line, are head gaskets. i would think it would be expected, with the incredible manifold pressures they run.

I am having one built for my 1650. The 310 did not hold up. My builder says expect 500- 600 HP. I hope this one holds together.

Hey Blake, sounds like you have some big plans for next season. I would still like to see that Firestone tire if you still have it. Thanks
