Does any one know what my options are for pistons and liners for a case DC? I would like to keep the block and bottom end stock but use the biggest bore I could get with out selling the farm. I heard of 4020JD pistons and liners how much work is this? Any aftermarket stuff?

Use any advice that Mel and doug can give you, they both know case. I had a DC at 4.875 bore and 7 stroke, Mel helped me a bunch and that thing ran good until the rear main broke out of it.

Could you guys expand a bit on exactly what 70 series case pistons and sleeves you have been using?? I have a friend with a really nice DC that has a badly worn out engine and I think the 70 series pistons and sleeves would be a cheaper option compared to buying DC pistons and sleeves.
Best,
Ken

mEL: What kind of horse power could I get with a 4-1/16 bore with dome pistons and the 5505 head? As of now I'm working on getting the tractor to stick and not spin out. Once I get there I'll want more HP. I really want torque for now. I'm pulling in a 5,500 lb. 55 hp max class and am thinking of adjusting max RPM to get in and out of other classes.

I did one with 1070 sleeves and 870 gas pistons (4 3/8 bore) with 5.5 stroke, good runner- 70 to 80hp. Building one now with 4 5/8 Ross pistons and 6.5 stroke. Planned on using 466JD sleeves but wondering if they are too short. Mel, would you be interested in sharing ideas? If so let me know.

4-1/16 is about as much as you can get without boring the block. I routinely put 4-5/8 in without moving the bores. With the right head and piston setup 100 hp is easily attainable at factory rated high idle. I have heard of 4-3/4 bore setups but cooling became an issue as there is not much room along the sides of the sleeves for water to get to the back of the block. Hope this helps, mEl

I have an 830 gas I want to try that with. What pistons and heads do you use to get 100 horsepower? Does it have to be stroked? Any advice would help.
