im trying to build a hitch for my dc case i had a pulling ring mounted on my drawbar but that was too long so i took my drawbar out and mounted that ring under my drawbar bracket wich shortened the hitch 16 inches that helped alot i actually placed last weekend but i was 3 inches lower than i needed to be. my idea is to take a big piece of angle iron over the top of the drawbar bracket and make it like c-channel run a 5/8 grade 8 bolt up through that with my pulling ring inside the c i can use washers to adjust height my biggest worry is will one 5/8 grade 8 bolt hold up pulling the 7000lb class im trying to keep the bracket stock so i can still use my stock drawbar for making hay thanks johndeereman

The 5/8 bolt sounds to light to me. Find another drawbar support and cut the angle iron out move it all the way forward and weld a new piece back in. Than drill out new boltholes. (Note the side mounting holes use a large bushing thus large holes are needed) Now bolt a D shaped plate to the draw bar support using 5 - grade 8 bolts using the drawbar stop pin holes. To raise the height just add flat stock under the D plate. Hope this helps...
