My 301 keeps running lean. I don't think I have the right carb. It is clean and the float is right. I can turn the load screw all the way out and even take it out and it still won't smoke any even with the throttle wide open. I think it is a 460 carb. I have heard that you can replace and drill out stuff. I have heard the terms metering stem, venturi etc. I have no idea what any of this stuff is. Could someone send me a picture or explain what are all these jets and stuff called in the carb?

i had a 560, put in a 806 venturi and it stuttered when you gassed it up, had more air but not enough fuel, do like i said in other forum and it will run great. main thing is check yourmain jet seat and make sure it is open and not partly obstructed. you can take the main jet screw and the nut that it goes through out and insert drill bit to see if open, dont lose the packing as carb will leak around the adj screw.

It stutters too much. I am getting a MSD box and I want to take advantage of the ability to burn slightly more fuel. LEAN IS MEAN UNTIL YOU BURN UP YOUR VALVES. BAD THING RIGHT? It needs more fuel.
