puta 4 5/8 bore stroke it to 6 1/4 raise compression up to 14.1 use a copper head gasket . contact barney taylor for a camshaft . and youll have power to do what ever you want . and it well look stock from the outside with exception of oil pan rail.

around here it takes 70 plus horses to be competitive in 3500. and over a hundred for 4000 to be competitive 120 plus will get youin first place some of the time. e gleaner with no hydraulics or pto is 68 horses no way 50 will beat it unless its a wc with a sherman box then it might. a sherman box is stock also. a 145 horse with sherman box wins it all in any gear.

well if you're going to pull it in mod classes i have some useful pointers. bolt on some higher performance factory parts like a governer spring off of a 170, and the carb off a 170. factory parts are always cheaper than performance parts. flat top pistons, electronic ignition, maybe some roller rockers if you can find em. what kind of tractors are you pulling against? what's their setup?

kendak, you managed to stirr up a stock vs mod sort of debate here. That's too bad, must be too many guys out there having trouble with rodded tractors running in farm stock classes. We don't have trouble with that up here. Not too many guys run the farm stock classes up here, some beginners, locals... I've been pulling in "improved" with my wore out bone stock & sloppy WD45. Mostly because it was funner, more tractors to pull with. So I did that & left the tractor stock until I got confident with other things, ballast, tire pressure, drawbar settings etc. It got to the point where power was my downfall & I had everything else set as good as I could get it. I recently decided to freshen the engine up. And since I am pulling in improved I decided to look for a little more power than stock. I went after compression, stock was 6.45:1, I decided to stick with the crater top style piston & bump compression to 8.25:1 My new pistons are Agco standard bore but they are about .155" taller than the stock WD45 ones.

That's really my only mod other than a 3 angle cut on my new valves. I'll finish putting mine together tonight & I'll try to break it in a little on wed & thurs night. I have a pull on Sat so maybe I'll have something to report come monday.

They are right u have a lot of power for a small tractor. You can put WD flat top 1/8" over flat top pistons in it and gain some compression should get u over 50 h.p. Plenty for that tractor if you are still gonna run 28" tires. You could also have a cam ground which is fairly inexpensive - you dont need a lot of h.p. in those classes just get yourself some good tires on wide rims and you'll be tough to beat.

well, im sorry if dont no nothin, but if u would put a gleaner e engine in ur wd45, and pull in a stock class, im sure ull have people on ur case if u win. We have oliver super 88 that we pull against with 110 hp, but we beat them because they spin out.

Sorry, it seem's a person can't get anything but idiotic answers on here anymore.

If a person wants to get more horsepower it's his business not some jackleg's that don't know nothing. Also he never SAID he was going to pull in a stock class.

Kendak didn't ask if he should or shouldn't , he asked for pointers. This site is getting more and more like this all the time.

oh, so you want it too LOOK stock, but you don't want it to BE stock. just leave it. and have some fun with it. WD45's don't need anymore power for their weight in stock classes, so either leave er be and pull stock, or break the bank and run with the hotrods. either way, have fun.

I agree with "cheater," i'd say just leave it, a WD-45 has enough power for a 3500# class easy. No one likes a cheater, keep her stock, and turn the RPM's & youll do fine. A WD45 has 30-40 hp stock at least, this is plenty of power.
