I built a m puller 5 years ago I've pulled it 7 times since. How long does it take to break in the motor? I feel after pulling its not enough power and looking for more power around 60 to 80 horsepower. I have 450 sleeves and pistons stock crank and cam m head but shaved .90 and ported and polished. What else would I need to do to it?? OR just start over from scratch?? Any help would be great not sure what to do or who to talk to.Thanks jerm

That port and polish may be hurting you, especially with a stock cam, 450 cam should help. lp manifold or if you want to put out the money, a manifold from Steel Performance.

If you want more horsepower you might want to slip in a cam from a super m it will work better, im not shure if you could use one out of a 400..450 but maby. Also you could do shorten the govner spring, carb work, intake, a 400 gas head or LP might work and a 400 gas or lp manafoild would put you at alot higher power level. If you started from scratch theres not much you could do other then stroke it because 4.125 in bore is what your getting from the 450 pistions and you could go a little more in the M block but not too much. It takes about 8 hours to break in a engine not reaching full throttle.
Good luck L&B pulling team
