BRAVO Lamount!!!! Our group does give three place trophies but we have the option of getting a plaque at the annual end of season party. No where near the clutter and it gives a very good look at your year in one spot.

I don"t know how old you are LIVIN LUCKY. You sound young in some ways but older in others. Go find affordable insurance for the sled owner/operators or whoever is in charge of and responsible for the event. Then consider their fuel prices and time invested in track prep., the sled itself, the entire day(s) of the pull, money ivested in the sled etc., etc., etc. I have felt the same way a few times, but it all came back into perspective when I considered these things and the fact that all of the trophies, plaques, ribbons, and certificates that I"ve won in the past are just sitting around collecting dust anyway. Of all of those prizes I just listed, I"d pick a certificate. There"s not enough money winnings to worry over, and it"s all for FUN anyway. I went to a pull on the 4th where there was no hook fee and no prizes. My DC won both classes I entered it in, and I had just as much fun as I"ve had anywhere else. I do think there should always be something for the kids, say 16 and under, to keep them interested. For us adults, let"s just have FUN!

I agree in (in some respects) I would rather see money paybacks. The ribbons and trophies just sit there eventually. I did go to a fun pull that they only gave trophies, that was a good time. But in the end a trophy costs a good $10-20 to make. We started donating ours back to put new plaques on to try and save some money! I do like the year end plaque idea for all the stated reasons.
Just my .02

Trophys are one of the reasons we started the Tri State Antique Points Pullers. Instead of trophys at each pull, monies are given and points totaled for the end of the year awards. We take the best placings in each class from 6 of 11 points pulls. This way its not always the guys who never misses a pull who wins the top spots. By doing this a puller can win a little fuel money plus have something to show for their time at the end of the year.
