I have a Case VAC I would like to put together to make some pulls. It has the 124 in it and I have searched the posts to see what is available and what others have done. Anyone out there with a 159 or 201 for sale. If not, could someone give me advice on building the 124. I just want to have some fun with it, since it will be my first one. Not many combines here in Texas to rob 201's from. May be stuck with the 124. Any help would be appricated.

I have a VAC with a 148 in it that I plan on selling as soon as I change it over to 12-volt and put in electronic ignition. At least I think it"s a 148. It"s whatever came out of a CASE 300 backhoe. It already has wheelie bars and weight brackets that look pretty nice. It also has a set of VERY lightweight 9-bolt hubs and 11.2 X 36 tires on pressed steel. I don"t have a clue how it pulls. I"ve never had the chance to hook it to the sled. My dad bought it from someone and never used it and I got it from him. It runs excellent and seems to have pretty good power. The little ceramic piece that steps the voltage down to 6 volts would get hot and it would quit running. Rather than replace that piece, I decided to do it right and change it over to electronic ignition. Mission NOT accomplished yet. Email me if you think you might be interested. I can take some pictures of it and we can go from there.

it takes ALOT of work to put a 201 in a vac, We are planning on just working the stock block and seeing what we can get out of it. this keeps all happy, looks stock (from outside).

go to www.myoldparts.com he shows how to put a 201 in a vac.

probably you are better off to stay with the 124 block, the 188-201 is far from a "drop in" and the powers that be will not allow the combine engine in the VAC but farmall gets a pass on their similar setups, does that surprise you!!Our setup with the bored/stroked 201 is outstanding power wise, a 3rd gear puller up to 4500 lbs, but as I previously stated , not legal at the sanctioned pulls as I hear, if anyone can add to this discussion I would like to hear what is the mood concerning this type tractor out there. mEl
