What's fair?

I was pulling my 1940 M Farmall with a v-8 in open classes yesterday (and doing quite well) when I had a guy (who I wasn't even pulling against) complain that it wasn't FAIR that I was allowed to pull against those "poor" other tractors. I told the gentleman that I had less than $8k in my tractor and would it have been an accetable FAIR if I had showed up with a $40-$50K tractor? I told him that I would be happy to help him build a terrible v-8 tractor as I had used common, realatively inexpensive, easy to find parts (not like his big $$$ engine in his JD 820 that I found out later he pulled). Just what is "fair"?????

I was told later that some of the "poor" tractors that I was beating had $10-$12K motors.

I watched my "gentleman" complainer pull and he pretty much dominated with his big $$$ motor--- I wonder how FAIR his competition felt that was.

lol reminds me of the RPRU pull this year. There was 2 guys sitting on there tractors and every tractor that pulled up to the sled they blabbed about how hot they was and how unfair it was. I just bet they were perfect little angels with there bone-stock farm tractors. Or maybe it was just that they have thousands of dollars in there tractor and are still being beat but what do I know
