Hey Skip,
I don't know where you are located but I just started pulling here in SC mid year last year. I have a barefoot stock WD and it depends on what everyone else is running as to how competitive you can be. I just tell the "HOTRODDERS" to watch out if they stumble...I'll run up their back sides. I am content to just learn to read the track and get the most from my WD as is. I may "build it" this winter. To me the fun is in the experience...everyone can't win all the time. I did get a full pull last year and beat one of the "top dogs" (he protested me!)Good luck and have fun!

we are currently running 454 big block chevy pistons in ours effectively with less expense than buying the 1/8th over because of the large availability of the chevy pistons. also stepped up to a custom ground cam..$100.00 most places if you send in your old cam and the specs you would like it to be. cant take the tractor out and brushhog with it because it will get hot but can run around the grounds and stuff and pulls excellent.

One of the first things I would do is buy yourself some 13" power adjust rims with 14.9-28 tires, most antique clubs will allow you one tire size over original. This made a huge difference on mine, I had 10" with 13.6 tires and I was always 3rd or 4th place. Then I got the rims and I took 2 1st and 3 2nds last year. Just recently I put a WD45 crank in my WD and went with the 1/8" over bore 175 powercrator pistons. Now I hoping to pull 2nd gear no matter where I go without dying on the track.

Go to your local Agco dealer, they should be able to hook you up. Tisco also carries them but I'm hearing that they aren't the same.
