We seem to be down in hooks so far though we have only had a few summer pulls so far. What is everyone else seeing? Are the fuel prices to blame?

Competing against summer movies, computers/computer games, school exams and dwindling numbers of people who have had any direct ties to farming. The urban folk are more interested in Nascar instead of tractors.

Maybe if they'd offer $$$ instead of cheap trophies, more people would go. For crying out loud, it's bad enough that grown men spend big $$$$ (myself included) to chase a $10 trophy, where even if you win, you spend more on fuel and entry fees than the trophy is worth. What's a trophy worth anyways? You just collect them for a few years then give them away anyway. Used to be, they could get SOMETHING for placing.

Some clubs can pay out some cant! Fuel costs, insurance costs, that alone can take a bite out of any clubs reserve. Not really in it for the cash prize, but more of the envelope it comes in that has the placing on it. My prize money is used for entry fee for the next pull. So if you can get good enough at it, you kinda pull for free,, and if you make your entry fee back for a win + a few bucks extra on top of that,, well,, it aint much, but its more than you spent in entry fee. Trophies are nice, paper weights, things to trip over in the dark, cause they are sitting on the floor cause you got so many of em and no place to put em on the shelves, so on more thing I got to trip over, well, Im not to worried bout if its a trophy, or a paper envelope. 5 pulls scheduled for over 100 miles away from home, is whats keeping me home. Ill go to the 6th one, that way the competition is all tuned up, and ready, I go in and try and beat em. Chad
