Stroke it, that is where you get your power. I have a 1936 A JD bored and stroked, will out pull the M Farmall and Olivers in 2nd gear 4500 5000 and 5500. Got to love it, to see those guys with there chin on the ground.

Geesh, you oughta have 50 horse or better with the engine set-up you got. Don't try to pull with the high speed classes...your A doesn't have 100 plus horses like some of the Ollies, big Minnies and long stroked Farmalls have. Stay with the 5500-6500 3-4 mph stuff, that's where your tractor is competitive. Don't get "sucked in" to tryin' to pull with the high revvin, multi-cylinder crowd...it'll break you heart...and maybe your tractor too.

I don't think you're going to need more power if it is tuned nicely - my guess is that, at 5500 pounds, it will spin out even with the throttle backed down and the front wheels lifted. About 6 or 7 psi should work well in the 14.9 tires.
