I have a WD45 that I want to build into a pulling tractor and I wanted to stroke it I was woundering what type of pistons to use if I wanted a 5 3/4" or 6" stroke and use a set of small block chevy rods. Don't know if I should use 5.7" or 6" rods though I would like the pistons to be as large as possible. Also was woundering where to get sleeves for this and if they need to be welded in. Where do I get the crank stroked at? And anything else that you guys could tell about building a engine like this would be appricated.

allis diesel or d19 gas rod is 7 3/8 long they work nice .also farmall 153 cube rods work they are 7 1/4 long. with a 5 3/4 stroke 2.0 compression hieght the 153 rod makes 11.1 compression .the 7 3/8 makes close to 15.1 with the same piston. i have used both rods theres less clearance promblems with the farmall rod but the allis rod i believe makes a sronger bottom end . barney taylor is a fine pesrson his cam shaft is a must.

To answer your last question first. We can stroke your crankshaft, 5 3/4" to 6" is a good choice depending on rod length and stroke you might be able to use a stock Ford or Chevy replacement piston. However, a better choice would be Arias to be able to get the larger bore size, we have sleeves for 4.562, 4.625, 4.6875-we install the sleeves without welding-Chevy journal size is ok, but not Chevy rods (wrong length). I prefer rods by Murphy"s Motor Service.
