Hey guys do any of you know why my tractor pulls left. The track conditions were it was a harder track and the air pressure was the same in both tires it was checked before I hooked up to the sled and then I checked it again after unhooking and it was the same both times. I thought it may be a problem with the left brake but it hasn't been touched so I don't know why it would be tighter than the right brake. Any ideas on what else could have caused this. Thanks

I have a '51 JD A. I did 3 or 4 pulls last year (just getting started)and she went straight as an arrow. This year I had a pull where she started to go left, so I tapped a little on the right brake to bring her around. Then she started going right, so I tapped a little on the left brake, and she straightened up for the rest of the pull.

Hey guys just wanted to say thanks for the comments. I will check my tractor for everything that was said and see if the problem gets fixed. Maybe I can give the other guys in the class a run for there money. Thanks

Another thing to check is that you don"t have one tire that is taller than the other. Measure up from the floor to the axle centers, if one side is taller than the other, reduce air pressure on the side that is higher until both sides are at an even height. I have this same problem on my tractor even though they are a matching set of tires. This is what I do to correct it.

I pull a Jd70 that seems to like 100 lbs more on the right side of the tractor. I never scaled the rear to see what the weight distribution is from left to right. I need 300 lbs to make weight (3 x 100's) so I always add the odd weight opposite the flywheel but close to the seat, my brackets are mounted on the axles. I also have a set of missmatched tires, which may change everything, but the tractor pulls decent with this setup.

Michael - Check the easy things first. Take a look to make sure both rear wheels are set the same on the rear axle. Make sure that they have the same offset (dish or spacing). If that checks out, then look at the drawbar. Make sure it is centered between the rear wheels. If the drawbar is not equal distance between the rear tires, the tractor will drift to the side with the wheel "in" or the side where the distance is less between the wheel and drawbar. Had the same thing happen to my tractor. Everything looked good to the naked eye, but my drawbar must have been off center a little. I ground a little bit on one side of it and shimmed it over. I haven't had any problems since.
