I have been told to use threaded rod to hold my wheel weights on. The only problem is that I need eight on each wheel. What grade of threaded rod would hold about a thousand pounds with all of that leverage on the end? What grade will bend and what grades will just snap?

I hang 9 Farmall wheel weights on each wheel on my Super M . I use 3/4" DA Bolts, These are essentialy fully threaded galvanized 3/4 Threaded rods at 24" . I have many buddies who are Linemen, and the DA Bolt is used to hang the crossarms on utility poles . I use 4 rods per wheel and they hold fine. Thats 1350 pounds per wheel. I use full size square washers , and tighten them equally around so the wheel weights hang uniformly. They stay put and I have never had a problem .

Fastenal as Acme threaded rod 3/4 inch dia by 6 threads per inch that works great to hold weights on. The top of the thread is flat, so sliding the weights on and off doesn't damage the thread. The rod and nuts get alittle expensive, but ease of tightening up the nuts on the weights is worth it. Part # 47551 (6ft long) for the rod and #37992 for the nuts.
